Subject: Join Us in Solidarity with People of the Philippines and Take Actions to Hold Their Government Accountable

Dear Members, Partners, Friends, and Allies

Power and solidarity to you today, 29th November, International Day for Women Human Rights Defenders!

The relentless and consistent work of W/HRDs all over the world needs to be lauded because you do so within harsh and extremely hostile environments. Over the past two years we’ve reached out to you for your attention and solidarity for the killings, arrests, detention, judicial harassment, threats and intimidation of W/HRDs in the Philippines. We are reaching out for your solidarity again because the human rights situation in the Philippines has gone from bad to worse under the Duterte Administration as it openly ignores the push from the international human rights community and harshly suppresses the dissenting voices and peoples resistance.

APFF 2017

We thus call on you to join us for a Series of Global Solidarity Actions for the Philippines to be held from 29th November 2018 to 10th December 2018. In this campaign we will be highlighting:
29 November 2018 (International Women Human Rights Defenders Day)
3 December 2018, (International Day in support for the Release of Political Prisoners)
10 December 2018 (International Human Rights Day)
We need your solidarity and actions so that people in the Philippines continue to resist with hope, and for the Duterte Administration to feel even more threatened by the international community’s solidarity outcry and surrender its power back to people’s sovereignty. To join the campaign, click here. As part of the campaign, we also have a sign-on letter urging the Philippines Government to be held accountable for human rights violations. Please sign on to the letter by clicking on this link by 9th December, midnight Bangkok time. If you are unable to access the google form, please contact us or send your endorsement by replying to this email.

Please circulate the campaign call and sign-on letter to your networks. For further information, please contact marion@apwld.org.
